the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC is amazing. it has an incredible display of styles with intriguing colors. it is an adventure for the eye. as i walked through i was drawn from piece to piece, room to room and felt that i could have spent hours there. i could have looked at some of my favorite pieces there many more times and look forward to another visit. i am fascinated by the creative licence and sensory perceptions that play into an artist's depiction of another person. the color, style, display, and hundreds of other factors contribute to the interpretation of the piece. and my personal interpretation would be different from the person next to me because of the vast differences in the construction of my own sensory perception. due to my senses, memories, emotions, ways of thinking, and everything that is me, i see things much different that others and have different triggers. i look forward to my next visit to this museum and next opportunity to use my artistic eye.
